A simple and easy recipe for homemade multigrain bread that requires minimal ingredients and no bread machine. Perfect for your weekend brunches! The bread pairs well with various toppings such as peanut butter and banana or vegan herb cream cheese.
In a big mixing bowl, add the dry yeast, warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Whisk.
Add the multigrain flour and salt into the bowl and mix as well as you can. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until it becomes a soft elastic dough (takes about 10 mins).
Form the dough into a ball and lay it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise for 1 hour at room temperature.
Once it has doubled in size, knead it again for a couple of minutes and form a ball again. Humidify the bread lightly and sprinkle the sunflower seeds on top. Let it rise for another 30 mins under a kitchen towel.
With a sharp knife, score the bread to give it a nice design. Put the bread in a cold oven, turn it on to 240°C, and bake it for 25 mins. Let it cool down completely before slicing.
